Although we all love to see smiling, happy kids, it is important to remember that portraits are a means of capturing the true nature of people. A contemplative, introverted child won't change overnight simply to please adults. Forcing or coaxing a smile out of a baby or young child may make them apprehensive. Relax, let them be, and in turn, they too will soon relax.
