Dressing for Success(ful Portraits)
When more than one person will be photographed, it is common to wear clothes with similar themes or colours. Try to choose clothing with rich textures which will add depth to Black and White portraits.
Another option for family portraits is to have all except one person dressed in similar colours. This is usually the youngest or oldest member of the family.

Kids Don't Always Smile
Although we all love to see smiling, happy kids, it is important to remember that portraits are a means of capturing the true nature of people. A contemplative, introverted child won't change overnight simply to please adults. Forcing or coaxing a smile out of a baby or young child may make them apprehensive. Relax, let them be, and in turn, they too will soon relax.
A carefree portrait session allows the photographer to capture a variety of facial expressions, thereby capturing all the emotions or moods embodied in your little ones. Burdening children with the pressure of constantly smiling, results in fake "cheesy" smiles rather than the smiles that are accompanied by pure joy. When looking back at old photographs, it is usually the unposed photos that give us pause and make us want to recall the stories behind them.
